OAHU, HI — In Southern California where I live, movies, TV and porn seem to be everywhere, but with series like Hawaii Five O, Magnum P.I. , Lost and with many movies shot on location here, Hawaii has had it’s own film industry. The last time I visited in 2006 was for the Hawaii International Film Festival. The festival usually takes place in October and if you have never attended it, I highly recommended you do, because it is one of the nation’s best.
Another way you can learn about Hawaii’s film industry is by visiting Kualoa Ranch. Located about an hour Northeast of Honolulu, near Kaneohe Bay. The ranch was the location for films such as Jurassic Park, Jurassic World, Windtalkers, Godzilla and 50 First Dates. The TV series Lost and Hawaii Five 0 also filmed there.
The Movie Sites and Ranch tour is about an hour and a half. It’s also working cattle ranch and tropical farm. In addition to The Movie and Ranch Tour there is horse back riding, zip lining, ATV and jungle tours.
